About Silhauri Temple, Marhaura Saran Bihar

According to our survey, Silhauri Temple is an old temple located in Silhauri village of Marhaura block of Saran district. It was built by King Sheel Nidhi.

King Sheel Nidhi is the same king whose daughter Narad ji used to dream of marrying.

Every year a huge fair is held here on the day of Mahashivratri. Devotees from far and wide come to see Lord Shiva.

Why is Silhauri Temple is a famous tourist place of Saran district

When our team was doing survey work in Silhauri village, this question kept coming in our mind that why is this temple so famous.

Why do tourists and devotees come from far and wide to see this temple? To know the reason for this, we interviewed many elders of the village.

Then we found 3 reasons due to which Silhauri temple has become a very popular tourist place in today’s time.

1 Reason ( King Sheel Nidhi’s leprosy was cured here )

Leprosy, which we also know as leprosy, was a disease suffered by King Silanidhi. One day, when the king was passing through this road, he asked his soldiers to bring water.

The warriors searched a lot but they could not find water anywhere. After a lot of searching, they found some water at the place of this temple. As soon as the king drank that water, his leprosy was cured.

After which, the king occupied that land and built this temple.

So this is the first reason due to which Shilhauri temple has become a very popular tourist place.

2. Shivlinga has been established here by itself

According to the priests of the temple, the Shivling in this temple has come out of the earth by itself. It has not been made by any artist.

When King Silnidhi’s leprosy was cured, he occupied this place, after which Lord Shiva came to King Silnidhi in his dream and said, ‘This is my residence, you leave this place’.

The king found this to be false, after which he started digging this land with a spade, after which he found the Shivling. Even today, when you see the Shivling of this temple, you will find the marks of the spade in it.

3 Here the pride of Sage Narad was shattered

Narad Muni had performed a tough penance and asked Lord Vishnu for a boon that whenever a girl sees him, she should like him and he should look the most attractive.

After asking for this boon, he came to the swayamvar of King Sheel Nidhi’s daughter in Silhauri. He thought that King Sheel Nidhi’s daughter would like him.

But Lord Vishnu had made his face like a monkey, due to which he was insulted in the gathering.

There is a very old well inside the Silhauri temple. When he saw his face inside the well, he came to know that Lord Vishnu had made him a monkey.
